'Preachers Of L.A.' Not Disturbing, Bishop Noel Jones Says
Bishop Noel Jones, the senior pastor of the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, Calif., recently defended himself on the Tom Joyner Morning radio show where he admitted to being flawed amid controversy over his Oxygen docu-series "Preachers of L.A."
After Tom Joyner Morning Show co-host Sybil Wilkes called the preachers' appearance on the show disturbing, Jones defended himself.
"You have a lot of great, fancy words but what you see in this, is men of God who are preaching the word, who are now seen as just regular guys but it is in such a disturbing (way,)" Wilkes told Bishop Jones.

However, Bishop Jones did not hesitate to disagree.
"It is not disturbing," Jones insisted. "Who in the world, who has been going to church, especially in our culture, from slavery to now…has ever thought that the preacher was God?"
When Wilkes said that some people may view preachers on the level they do God, Jones had a rebuttal.
"He is a messenger and a messenger is always flawed," Jones insisted on the radio show.
Jones previously explained why he decided to take part in the show.
"My original intention was not for this to be an evangelical tool, very certainly not," Jones previously said on Impact Network's "Lift Your Voice." "My original intention was (for) it to be a tool to help bring the minds of Christian people to the place where they give some balance to who their pastors are and how they deal with their pastors."
Jones appears on the docu-series alongside minister and gospel singer Deitrick Haddon, Bishop Clarence McClendon of Full Harvest International Church, Pastor Wayne Chaney of Antioch Church of Long Beach, Bishop Ron M. Gibson of Life Church of God In Christ and Pastor Jay Haizlip of The Sanctuary Church. The show appears on Oxygen Network Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
