Premier Christian Radio to Broadcast Nationwide
On the ninth year celebration of Premier Christian Radio at Westminster Chapel, June 22, good news was announced by manager director Peter Kerridge.
"We're tremendously excited to announce that we've had the green light to start broadcasting on Freeview, although we have been broadcasting nationally for some time on Sky Digital, NTL and the Internet, we feel that this step is potentially the biggest in our history. Now, for a one-off cost, Christians across the UK will be able to receive Premiers mix of life-changing words and inspirational music. For the first time Christian radio is available across the land at a price most people can afford."
Kerridge continued, "We will be altering the sound of the station somewhat to give it a more national feel, and reflect the interests and concerns of the Christian community in Britain."
The station is hoping to begin broadcasting on the platform as early as September.
Premier's audience is mainly within the Christian community. It tries to give room for the whole range of Christian denominations. Today Premier operates a single AM radio license in London (1305/1332/1413 AM). Now with the free-to-air digital service Freeview, Premier Radio can reach a huge number of homes nationwide.
Currently Premier offers 24-hour broadcasting, with major focus on Christian news, current concerns and lifestyle issues. It also includes traditional, modern and classic hymns and music praise and worship. In addition, Premier also provides a telephone help-line service, Lifeline, to respond to its audience.
