President Bush Speaks at Knights of Columbus Convention
Bush addresses world's largest lay Catholic organization with proposal additional funding for faith-based initiatives.
President Bush spoke at the 122nd Annual Knights of Columbus Convention in Dallas, Texas, on August 3 to an audience of about 2,500, including Knights, their families, 60 bishops and 13 cardinals. The Knights of Columbus, the world's largest lay Catholic organization with 1.7 million members, will hold the annual convention from August 3-5.
Although the group is officially non-partisan, it supports Bushs opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage. The nation's 65 million Catholics constitute more than a quarter of the electorate.
