'Pretty Little Liars' season 6B: New mysteries for the 5-year jump
The return of "Pretty Little Liars" season 6 is expected to jump five years ahead.
Fans will see the characters all grown up, distancing themselves away from the mysterious A after years of harassment. The recent teaser promo revealed that the season will have the girls drifted apart while finishing college.
Hanna was seen studying in New York and engaged. However, producer Marlene King refused to disclose the identity of her fiancé. She said, "I can't say who it's too. It might be Caleb, it might be not. A lot can happen in five years." King also mentioned that the continuation of the season will present new mysteries and stories that will end by the seventh season. She said, "So it's a great final, gigantic mystery twist — I think it's the biggest we've ever had. And that feels like season seven is probably a good time to end that story. But we'll see — we have a little time to play with it. But we're definitely moving in that direction."
The second half of season 6 will also continue the twin theory presented in the source material, the series of Sara Shephard. The series told the story of Alison's twin named Courtney DiLaurentis. It was said that she spent time in Radley Sanitarium due to her behavioral problems. The twin theory was not yet seen in the TV series.
King addressed the question of its appearance in the series when a fan asked about King's constant hints regarding it. King tweeted, "The story isn't over. @aguerin32 #Twins." King also explained that there is a reason to why she kept dropping hints about the twin theory. She said that while fans may not see Courtney, there may be a double present.
With the news of Pretty Little Liars ending on its seventh season, there were also speculations that the series will receive a movie adaptation.
Pretty Little Liars season 6 will return on Jan. 6, 2016.
