'Pretty Little Liars' Spinoff 'The Perfectionists' Gets Pilot Order; Show Not Connected to Original?
Just three months after "Pretty Little Liars" came to a close, Freeform has ordered the pilot for a spinoff starring original cast members Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish.
Titled "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists," the new project will be based on the book of the same name by Sara Shepard, the woman behind the bestselling original "Pretty Little Liars" novel where the flagship show was based.
The spinoff first went into development in 2014 by both Shepard and the parent series creator Marlene King who penned the pilot and serves as the executive producer.

Pieterse and Parrish will reprise their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal in "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists." However, the former revealed in an interview with E! News that the spinoff is not exactly connected to the show, which might come as a disappointment to fans of the flagship series, which ended its seven-year run last June.
It has nothing to do with "PLL," they're just kind of putting my character into it. It's still a murder mystery and it's a really interesting plotline. I don't think I can say anything yet!
In another interview, per People.com, she talked about the excitement of having to work with her "favorite" people again, adding that she knew about "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" for about a year now.
So it's going to be one big happy family and I can't wait to start. I think we start filming in January.
Freeform executive vice president of programming and development Karey Burke said in an official statement picked up by The Hollywood Reporter that "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" was born out of their commitment of "delivering shows that push boundaries and become a part of our viewers' lives."
We can't wait to continue Marlene King's rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.

Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town's first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.
