Prince George Vacation to Mustique With Mom Kate is First for Royal Prince
Prince George is enjoying his first vacation with mom Kate Middleton in the Caribbean while dad Prince William stays home to study. The Middleton family gathered to celebrate matriarch Carole's birthday with a trip to Mustique.
According to reports, the six-month-old and his mother decided to make the trek to the island while dad William remains at home, studying and attending classes for his course at Cambridge University. It's a 10-week course that is meant to provide necessary information about the plight of farmers and familiarize William with their routines and needs in the country.
The Middleton family holds an annual gathering on the island of Mustique at this time of the year, but this is the first time that baby George will be in attendance. Kate is due back in London by February 11, where she will be a guest at the National Portrait Gallery. After that, she will be making several other appearances with William.
Middleton and George flew to Mustique with parents Michael and Carole, as well as sister Pippa, brother James, and three royal bodyguards. It's the first vacation for George, who will later travel to Australia and New Zealand with his parents on an official royal trip. According to Daily Mail, by the time he is nine months old, he will have already traveled nearly 40,000 miles.
It will be a new environment and schedule for Kate, as she fully steps into her royal role and duties. According to reports, Queen Elizabeth has ordered staff to help prepare Kate for the transition to full-time royal life with a makeover of sorts. One of the biggest transformations will be Kate wearing more jewelry, including a tiara chosen by the Queen.
"Angela [Kelly] has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip," a Buckingham Palace source told The Mail on Sunday. "She knows most of the pieces in the Queen's private collection."
