Prince George's Christening: Proud Parents Kate Middleton, Prince William Hold Royal Baby (PHOTOS)

Kate Middleton, Prince William and other members of the British royal family as well as their friends gathered today in London for Prince George's christening.

Just three-months-old, High Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge was christened at The Chapel Royal, St. James' Palace on Wednesday, Oct. 23 where he was held in the Lily Font in water from the River Jordan.

Furthermore, the firstborn son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wore a hand-made replica of the royal christening robe worn by Princess Victoria in 1841. George's christening gown was made by Queen Elizabeth's dressmaker, Angela Kelly.

Alternately, Middleton opted for a cream-colored, ruffled suit by Alexander McQueen and a Jane Taylor hat, according to Vogue U.K.

Just 24 people attended the intimate ceremony as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge broke from tradition in only inviting five senior royals and not having Prince George baptized at Buckingham Palace.

Among those in attendance was Queen Elizabeth II as well as the child's paternal grandparents; Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. Also, Middleton's parents Carole and Michael Middleton observed the christening, in addition to her siblings Pippa and James.

Pippa Middleton matched her older sister in a cream version of Suzannah Crabb's lace "Paris" dress. The 30-year-old paired the outfit with a hat made by Edwina Ibbotson.

Earlier on Wednesday, St. James' Palace released the names of Prince George's seven godparents, selected by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Surprisingly, Prince Harry nor Pippa Middleton were among those selected by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to be Prince George's godparents.

Nevertheless, godparents include William's first cousin Zara Phillips (Mrs. Michael Tindall) who is 15th in line to the throne, as well as William's childhood friend William van Cutsem.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who served as a Private Secretary for the Duke, Duchess and Prince Harry from 2005 to 2012, is also a godparent to baby George.

Rounding out the list of godparents is a friend from the University of St. Andrews Oliver Baker, the son of the Duke of Westminster Earl (a.k.a. Hugh) Grosvenor, Kate Middleton's friend from Marlborough College Emilia Jardine-Paterson, and finally, Julia Samuel- and close friend of William's later mother, Princess Diana.

Portraits taken from the special event are expected to be released on Thurs. Oct 24. They are being shot by famed photographer Jason Bell, according to the Daily Mail.
