Prince George's Godparents Announced Ahead of Christening
Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly made their selections for their son Prince George's six godparents. So far only three are known, and the other three are expected to be revealed next week at the christening.
According to reports, the royal couple bucked tradition and chose friends instead of royals to be the baby's godparents. One of those selected is Hugh Van Cutsem, 39, who is a good friend of Williams; his daughter served as a flower girl at William's wedding and William is the godfather of his daughter.
Another godparent chosen is Fergus Boyd, 31, who went to Eton with William and became his fast friend. Boyd, William, and Kate even spent their freshman year living in the same residence hall.

Kate has reportedly chosen 30-year-old Emilia d'Erlanger, whom she attended Marlborough College with. D'Erlanger is credited with introducing William and Kate and helped the royal couple decorate their apartment at Kensington Palace.
Fans are betting that Kate's sister Pippa and William's brother Harry will also be named as godparents at the intimate ceremony on Oct. 23. George's christening will be a small affair attended by select family and friends, including the six godparents. According to reports, royals Princess Anne and Sophie, Countesses of Wessex, have been left off the guest list in order to have an "intimate, family affair."
"They are rather unexpected, off-the-wall choices for godparents, not the usual suspects of William's closest friends who we anticipated," a royal source told The Daily Mail.
One friend suspected of being a godparent, Guy Pelly, a friend of William's, had to deny all claims of being a godparent, which he said is rather awkward.
"People have been coming up to me and shaking my hand, offering their congratulations. They have got it all wrong," Pelly told The Daily Mail. "I spoke to William about it and he confirmed I am not going to be one."
