Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas Relationship 'Wasn't Meant to Be,' Friend Says
Prince Harry recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of his charity, Setebale, but did so alone. It was the first royal duty he attended since breaking up with girlfriend of two years, Cressida Bonas, and a friend now says that the relationship simply "wasn't meant to be."
The couple called it quits just after two years of being together and recently attending royal and public events together. It appeared as though they were getting closer and Cressida preparing to take on more duties, perhaps even training, for royal life. However, the couple separated, leaving everyone stunned. Prince Harry went to a wedding in the U.S. with his brother, Prince William, while Cressida stayed behind in Europe and spent time with friends.
"She is a lovely girl, and a beautiful girl, but this has run its course," a friend told People. "It wasn't meant to be."
According to reports, Cressida wanted to focus more on her own career and wasn't exactly sure about becoming a member of the royal family and giving up her personal life.
"Cressida has been a bit wobbly about the whole situation for quite some time. Not about him, but about the whole situation and really if it is what she wants," "Majesty" editor-in-chief and royal expert Ingrid Seward said.
Cressida was supposed to meet the Queen this summer, a sure sign that things were getting serious between the two, but that has obviously been called off. She has since taken compassionate leave from her job and is trying her hardest to avoid the spotlight as she deals with the breakup. Prince Harry, meanwhile, is returning to life as a royal and focusing more intensely on his work with various charities.
There has been no word from either Cressida or Harry about their breakup, but neither is likely to speak publicly about their private lives. It's likely that they will remain friends despite their separation.
