Prince Harry Meets Michelle Obama, Tours US
Britain's Prince Harry is embarking on a six-day trip to 11 U.S. cities this week that includes meeting First Lady Michelle Obama.
The 28-year-old royal arrived in Washington, D.C. on Thursday where he visited Capitol Hill as well as the White House.
First, Harry was joined by Sen. John McCain for a tour of an exhibit on clearing land mines, a cause championed by Harry's late mother Princess Diana.
McCain, who described the red-haired royal as charming and funny, also remarked on his appeal with women.
"I've never seen in all my years here such a one-gendered crowd," he joked, according to USA Today.
Then at the White House, Harry attended a tea party amidst surprised military mothers and grandmothers as well as Mrs. Obama.
"Well, surprise," exclaimed the First Lady, who co-hosted the White House party, reported USA Today.
"Prince Harry wanted to be here to personally thank you for your service," she told attendees.
As for today, Harry is scheduled to visit the Arlington National Cemetery before heading to see wounded vets at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
"He is a soldiers' soldier and will bring a spotlight on what's being done to help these outstanding men and women," said Harry's private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton during a Palace briefing in March.
Next, Harry will fly to Colorado where he will watch veterans participate in the Warrior Games.
After that, the third heir to the British throne will tour the damage from Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey alongside Gov. Chris Christie, attend a charity fundraiser in New York, and play in a polo match in Greenwich, Conn.- all while promoting British tourism and raising money for his African children's charity.
On Twitter, fans of the royal family are voicing their excitement over the "world's most eligible bachelor" being in the U.S.
Meanwhile, Harry will become an uncle for the first time with his older brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, welcome their first child in July.
