Prince William and Kate Middleton Arrive in NYC for 3-Day Trip

Prince William and Kate Middleton have arrived at New York City, marking the beginning of their three-day trip which they are expected to take the U.S. by storm.

The royals touched down at JFK airport at 4:37 p.m. aboard British Airways flight 177 before their motorcade headed off towards The Carlyle on E. 76th St. The hotel has long played host to royals including the late Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The couple was warmly greeted by people who headed to the Carlyle to catch a glimpse of them. Moreover, the Empire State Building was lit up in red, white, and blue in honor of the Prince and the Duchess. In front of the Carlyle, they stopped to pose for a pool of photographers who had travelled from London to cover the trip.

"It's good to be here," said Prince William.

The Duchess, who is five months pregnant with her second child, wore a maroon and black tweed coat, black tights and black suede booties, while the Prince wore a navy suit and tie.

After a quick change, the royal couple left the hotel for a private dinner for friends of The Royal Foundation hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell, the chief executive of the WPP advertising group. The private event is expected to raise money for the charitable foundation.

On Dec. 8, the Prince will be travelling to Washington D.C. to meet with President Obama, while the Duchess will stay in New York to visit a child development center in Harlem. In the evening, the couple will attend an NBA game at the Barclays Center.
