Prince William Diaper Duty: Duke Focused on Nappies During Polo Match
Prince William made his first public appearance on Saturday at the Audi Polo Challenge in Ascot, England, and the new Dad joked about being on diaper duty.
William and wife Kate Middleton, both 31, welcomed the birth of their first child, George Alexander Louis on July 22 and the Duke of Cambridge attributed his subpar performance to still being in "baby mode." He apologized before reporters after the polo challenge and revealed that much of his focus was on picking up diapers for two-week-old Prince George.
"I was in baby mode out there, thinking about nappies [diapers], I wasn't really in the zone," William told reporters according to Mail Online. The Duke reportedly then added, "I've got to pick some up on my way home."
William and Middleton are reportedly adjusting well to parenthood despite the sleepless nights and intense media scrutiny. The Duke has reportedly found his own way of getting Prince George to sleep.
"Prince William is using a bizarre tactic of belting out Coldplay anthems at all hours of the night even though he can barely hold a note," a source told the Daily Star.
The royal couple is reportedly planning a Christening for baby George, which is scheduled for September. They are also said to be in the process of selecting at least six godparents for their son.
"It will be a small, intimate affair. The Queen will be present and the Middleton family," Royal party planning expert Emma Summers told E! News about Prince George's Christening.
"It will be very different from what we saw at the wedding," Summers's fellow royal party planning expert, Georgina Reames, explained. "A very private occasion and a very religious one."
William and Middleton are expected to select three godmothers and three godfathers ahead of Prince George's baptism. Among the list of potential top picks is William's younger brother Harry and Middleton's younger sister Pippa and brother James.
