Prince William Listens to Animal Sounds to Relax, Admits Love of Africa Due to Diana
When Prince William gets stressed, he chooses to unwind in a unique way – he listens to sounds of animal noises. William is known for his love of Africa, which he claims to have inherited from his late mother, Diana.
"I definitely daydream," he said in a new documentary about his conservation effort in the country. "Africa is definitely one of the places I go to… I have hundreds of animals on my iPhone. So if I am ever having quite a stressful day… you can put a buffalo on in the background or a cricket. It takes you back instantly to the bush. And it does completely settle me down."
The new father, and Search and Rescue pilot may very well need those relaxation sounds as he adjusts to his new life. And life is about to change again as he leaves Wales and his somewhat civilian lifestyle for Kensington Palace and a more royal role.

He explained that his mother often went to Africa and "would come back with all these stories and full of excitement and just passion for what she had been doing and I sort of used to sit there, quite a sort of surprised little boy at the time, taking it all in."
William is the royal patron of the Tusk Trust and visits Africa whenever possible. He even took then-girlfriend Kate on a trip to the country and decided to propose in his favorite place.
"I didn't really plan it that far in advance," he admitted. "I just knew I wanted it to feel comfortable where I did it and I wanted it to mean something, other than just the act of getting engaged. Kate understands what it means to me being in Africa."
"It's escaping to a kind of different world where I am just who I normally am anyway, and I can let that side, that sort of slightly immature, silly person come out a bit more than I normally do," William explained.
He is hoping to pass on his love for the country to his son and heir, Prince George. The baby's nursery is decked out in an African theme, and William said he wants to go back to Africa as soon as George is a little older.
"Prince William's Passion: New Father, New Hope" will be shown on CNN International and ITV in the UK on Sunday, Sept. 15.
