Prince William Selfie Hits the Internet, Leaves 12-Year-Old Thrilled

Prince William stunned a 12-year-old girl on Christmas Day as he walked with his family to the church. The prince took a photo known as a selfie with the young girl, who couldn't believe her good fortune.

According to Madison Lambe, William was extremely friendly and good-natured about taking the photo with her. He actually took the camera and pressed the buttons himself, given that Lambe was shaking too much to take the photo herself.

"I couldn't believe it when William came over to me and I asked for a picture. He just said to me, 'You can't beat a good selfie on Christmas Day,' and tookt he picture," Lambe told reporters.

Numerous people lined the streets to watch the royals make the annual walk from the Sandringham Estate to the church on Christmas morning. It's a special time when the royals interact with the people and generally exchange pleasantries, but this comes as a first for the royal family.

"He was really nice and I was so excited," Lambe said. "I've put the picture on Facebook. My friends think it is really good and they have been commenting on it. It was really good; I didn't expect it."

Lambe was in a special section of the receiving line reserved for children, so she was by herself, her mother, Paula Scrupps told the Daily Mail.

"Madison took some flowers for the Queen and the children line up near the church wall. Parents aren't allowed to go so she asked if she could borrow my phone so she could try a 'selfie' with the Queen. I didn't really expect her to get any pictures but certainly didn't think she would come back with a 'selfie' with William," Scrupps said.

Prince Charles recently took his own selfie with a fan during a visit to Hertfordshire, proving that even the most serious of people are capable of having a bit of fun and are adapting to new technology and trends.
