'Prison Break' season 5 plot news: Writers provide a logical explanation for character revivals
Details about the fifth season of "Prison Break" have been released.
Gary Newman and Dana Walden, executives from FOX, confirmed that characters Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows will continue with the story of the series. However, it is still unsure whether they will be played by actors Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.
Walden shared, "The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. It definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series and for a new audience… It'll start after where we left the Scofields in the final season."
It was also shared that the upcoming season will provide a twist, in order to revive the characters from the previous season. Walden stated that fans can expect a logical and trustworthy explanation to how the characters are still alive. "I don't think he's going to completely ignore what happened in that episode, but what he pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation in the world of 'Prison Break' for why are character's alive and still moving around the world. He had a very detailed incredible story for why these characters become relevant again and why they're back," Walden added.
However, there are still several characters that have not been confirmed to return. There has been no news of Scofield's wife Sara Tancredi, played by Sarah Wayne Callies, returning to the series. The previous season left off with Tancredi pregnant, which will provide an interesting plot if she will be involved in the season to come. Meanwhile, Callies stated that she still has the desire to reprise her role in the series.
Nevertheless, fans are excited for the revival of the series, despite the painful experience of believing that the previous season ended the series.
The premiere of Prison Break season 5 has yet to be revealed.
