'Project CARS' News: Game Sells 1 Million Copies

A new entrant in the car racing genre of video games, "Project CARS" just breached a major sales milestone. According to a report in IGN, the game has sold over a million copies since it was released in May 2015, one month ago. It was released for Windows PC, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

"Project CARS" is a racing simulator game developed and published by British game developer Slightly Mad Studios, and distributed by Bandai Namco Games.

Studio head Ian Bell thanked the gaming community for their "feedback and enthusiasm."

Together with the sales announcement, "To now stand here having reached over a million players in such a short time really justifies the work both the team and the community have done over the years and solidifies Project CARS' future as the multiplatform racing experience of choice for fans around the world. And we'll be talking more about that future very, very soon."

Part of the studio's plan is to bring new content to the game regularly. In another report in IGN, the developer promised its players that the game "will receive a series of free DLC vehicles in the months following the game's release." One of the first vehicles that will be provided will be one of the most exclusive and expensive cars ever made -- the W Motors Lykan Hypersport. Information about when these DLCs will be arriving have yet to be detailed by the studio.

The racing simulation game, before its release, has been delayed several times. In fact, earlier plans to create a version of older generation consoles has altogether been scrapped. The Wii version is also currently delayed.

Gameplay has to do with letting the players experience handling and driving actual race cars in actual racing circuits, with dynamic weather effects to boot. Players can choose from the different vehicles and race tracks available in the game. Unlike others in the genre, this is real racing without the frills.
