Project Morpheus vs. HoleLens: A closer look of the VR gadgets today

It cannot be denied that technology nowadays is really heading to advanced and better heights. One proof of such is the evolution of virtual reality technology which has dramatically changed over the years. Today, tech giants Sony and Microsoft are making waves with their upcoming VR products. Microsoft has HoloLens whereas Sony is working on Project Morpheus. While the two brands boasts its own unique features and aspects, it can't be helped if people make a comparison between the two.

First up is the HoloLens, which Microsoft introduced as the "first fully untethered, see-through holographic computer." Through this technology, people can begin to experience "high-definition holograms to come to life" in the real world. The project was first unveiled during its Windows 10 event and was presented with the concept video that really showed the innovation it can bring to people's lives. From building to advanced video calls to gaming, the project looks promising.

According to Crossmap, the gadget might be tough competition when it comes to the gaming console market. Presently, it is teaming up with developers working on games, including Minecraft. There is no price tagged to it yet but sources say that it will most likely cost more than an average gaming console which is priced at around $300 to $500. This can only possibly mean that its price will be as high as $900.

Meanwhile, Sony's Project Morpheus headset is its dice to virtual reality for console gamers. Tech Radar reported that the gadget has been reviewed as "more polished" than other products including the Oculus Rift. It now has a bigger 5.7-inch OLED screen with 1920 x RGB x 1080 resolution. But despite its increase in screen size, the headset is now lighter in weight eradicating its previous issues with the possibilities of sore neck muscles and headaches. Like the HoloLens, further details about it are still unknown but the device is speculated to be released in 2016.

So which one wins? There's no definite conclusion yet as both gadgets are still unavailable for retail. But as for PlayStation Lifestyle, the site goes for Project Morpheus being the tangible one for a hands on review.
