PS Plus Free Games February 2016 Prediction: 'Crypt of the Necrodancer' Is Out But 'Not a Hero' Still Possible

The last week of the month usually means Sony will be announcing its PS Plus free games lineup. While still waiting for the official announcement, industry followers and fans alike are giving their predictions of the titles that will be included in February 2016.

As early as Jan. 13, PS Plus free games February 2016 predictions were already circulating online. The first to make these predictions is gamer site Play-mag.co.uk, which suggested two upcoming indie titles as likely candidates. These are "Not A Hero" and "Crypt of the Necrodancer," both of which are scheduled to release on Feb. 2.

Unfortunately, "Crypt of the Necrodancer's" Twitter handle quickly dashed hopes that the game will be available for free to PS Plus subscribers next month. It debunked the prediction on the same day it was made, telling one fan simply, "No, it will not be free." That's one game scratched off the list.

In "Not A Hero's" case, Play-mag.co.uk based its prediction on the release date that coincided with the typical schedule that Sony rolls out its PS Plus free games. The site admits this might just be pure coincidence but also says Sony has a penchant for including one or two indie titles in its PS Plus lineup for the PS4, so it's still possible.

Rumors say Sony will return to its Vote to Play scheme, and the PS Plus community's wish list could be a good place to see what gamers actually want to play for free next month. These include "Fenix Furia," "Metal Slug 3," "The Evil Within," and "Resident Evil HD." Sony has not confirmed the rumor, though, and it remains to be seen if any of the titles fans are asking for will actually be included in PS Plus' February 2016 offerings.

Sony console owners need to wait just a little bit longer as the company is expected to announce its PS Plus free games for February 2016 before the month ends. The titles should be released or available for free download on the first of Tuesday of next month, Feb. 2, as is the company's current practice.
