PS4 and Xbox One vs PC: Nvidia Says the PC is 'Superior' to Next-Gen Consoles
PC company Nvidia has stated that despite the technological advances of the PS4 and Xbox One, the PC remains the "superior" platform for video games.
"We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles," said Matt Wright of Nvidia to MCV. "Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC.
Wright said Nvidia is working to create the ultimate user-friendly PC that can be used primarily for gaming without the complex format.
"The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings," he continued. "Steam now has more users than Xbox Live. There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There's a huge community who love playing their games on PC."
According to MCV, the PC is becoming the fastest growing platform of gaming in Europe over the last few years. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One just launched over there, so how that affects the PC's numbers remain to be seen.
"We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it's already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers," said Wright.
While both the new consoles boast 1080p graphics for a 60fps, this is the kind of graphical power the PC has had all along. The PC can constantly update as well, which is something the PS4 and Xbox One can not necessarily do, as they have to stay within the constraints of their abilities. The PC will always have the edge as far as resolution, graphics, and speed.
Only time will tell if the PC will catch up to the home console's popularity as it already has surpassed the mechanics and specs of them.
