PS4 Games Will Not Be Compatible With Bluetooth Headsets
PS4 games will not be compatible with Bluetooth headsets.
Sony announced that the console will not support those types of accessories in a statement to Game Informer earlier this week. USB headsets for previous systems will work with the new console, but not at launch. The company will issue an update that provides compatibility for Sony's branded PULSE headsets.
These headsets will play game audio with the PS4's optical connector. Sony will issue another system update in the coming months to make all of them fully compatible, but the company did not announce a date for it. The system will come with a mono headset.
Amazon began offering PS4 pre-orders shortly after Sony announced the new console's $399 price tag at this year's E3.
The system's price point makes it $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, which will retail for $499 when it launches in next month.
Sony also announced its new cloud-based gaming system, in partnership with Gaikai, that will allow PS3 and PS4 owners to play a selection of PS3 games that will be streamed over the internet. The feature is expected to launch for the PS4 sometime in 2014 with PlayStation Vita support.
The company introduced many of its first party games during the event including "Killzone: Shadow Fall," "Infamous: Second Son" and "Driveclub." Sony also showed off a game formerly known as "Final Fantasy Versus" that has been renamed "Final Fantasy XV" along with "Kingdom Hearts III." No release dates for these games were confirmed.
Warner Bros showed a new game called "Mad Max" that follows an open world format and is influenced by the critically acclaimed Fallout series.
Other PS4 games that made an appearance at E3 included "Destiny," "Watch Dogs," "Assassin's Creed IV," "Black Flag," "NBA 2K14" and "The Elder Scrolls Online," which will get a PS4-exclusive console port.
The PS4 will launch on Nov. 15.
