PS4 Pre-Orders Begin on Amazon, Console's $399 Price Confirmed at E3

Amazon began offering PS4 pre-orders shortly after Sony announced the new console's $399 price tag at this year's E3.

The system's price point makes it $100 cheaper than the recently unveiled Xbox One, which will retail for $499 when it launches in November. Sony also excited fans when it confirmed that the new PlayStation will be able to play used games, and finally revealed what it will look like.

The new Xbox will feature a 24-hour daily online authentication requirement that makes users have to install every game on the console's hard drive which will damage game lending and trading.

Sony also announced its new cloud-based gaming system, in partnership with Gaikai, that will allow PS3 and PS4 owners to play a selection of PS3 games that will be streamed over the internet. The feature is expected to launch for the PS4 sometime in 2014 with PlayStation Vita support.

The company introduced many of its first party games during the event including "Killzone: Shadow Fall," "Infamous: Second Son," and "Driveclub." Sony also showed off a game formerly known as "Final Fantasy Versus" that has been renamed "Final Fantasy XV," along with "Kingdom Hearts III." No release dates for these games were confirmed.

Warner Bros showed a new game called "Mad Max" that follows an open world format and is influenced by the critically acclaimed Fallout series.

Other PS4 games that made an appearance at E3 included "Destiny," "Watch Dogs," "Assassin's Creed IV," "Black Flag," "NBA 2K14," and "The Elder Scrolls Online," which will get a PS4-exclusive console port.

The PS4 will arrive on the market sometime during the 2013 holiday shopping season. The Xbox One is scheduled to launch in Nov. of this year.
