PS4 Pre-Orders to Arrive No Later Than Christmas, Says Sony
PlayStation announced that customers who ordered their PS4s after the date of Aug. 6 will receive their new console right on time for Christmas.
Managing Director at Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. Fergal Gara made the confirmation to CVG after initial reports indicated the systems would not arrive on time.
"Everyone who has put down a pre-order so far will definitely get one before Christmas, as long as nothing goes terribly wrong," he said. "If things keep going well we'll delight even more people on day one. We don't want to over-promise and under-deliver, we want to do the opposite."

He also stated that by the new year they will have enough models to stock shelves again.
Come launch day, there will be no models on the shelves because everything has been pre-ordered. Videogamer reported that a second wave of stock may be available the following week, but it is still unclear.
"Some people have decided, right, turn off the pre-orders completely because I want to have a bit of free stock on day one," Gara said. "Others are saying the fairest thing to do is keep the list going, and the first on the list gets the first console. Basically they're behaving in a linear fashion rewarding first come, first served."
"That of course means unless we're pleasantly surprised by a bigger launch day volume than expected then it's unlikely there will be free stock unless maybe people don't turn up," he continued. "So it'll differ by retailer. But a second batch of stock will be within the week probably, so we're not talking about droughts for months and months."
PS4 recently beat out Xbox One and Wii U in an online poll. The poll determined which console holiday shoppers planned on buying.
The poll ran from Sept. 23-27, 1,297 people were polled, and 26 percent said they would purchase a PS4 once available, with 15 only percent choosing Xbox One, according to Reuters.
For people aged 40 and below, the gap was larger with PS4 beating out the Xbox One 41 percent to 27 percent.
As far as gamers current habits, only three percent said they play the Wii U. 20 percent play the Xbox 360, 20 use the PC for gaming, and 18 percent play the PlayStation 3.
64 percent of respondents said they would not be purchasing a new console this season.
PS4 launches on Nov. 15.
