PS4 Update 4.50 Carrying External HDD Support Could Be Made Available Sooner Than Expected
Custom wallpapers, redesigned Notification List also expected to be included in the PS4's Update 4.50
PlayStation 4 owners have been looking forward to the official release of Update 4.50 for a while now, and it looks like there may be a positive development on that front.
Over on Reddit, "Finch-Tech" posted the contents of a conversation that involved a player support specialist.
In response to "Finch-Tech's" query related to a technical issue, the player support specialist for PlayStation Support revealed that a patch for PlayStation VR is apparently set to be released on March 7 together with the aforementioned PS4 update.
For now, the folks over at PlayStation have yet to attach an official release date to Update 4.50, but the contents of the Reddit post would seem to suggest that this particular downloadable will be coming out sooner rather than later.
It's easy to understand why PS4 owners are very excited about the potentially imminent arrival of this update, as it contains some useful features, including one that many gamers have been requesting for a long time.
Detailed in an earlier post on the PlayStation Blog, Update 4.50, also known as Sasuke, will bring external HDD support to the console. Once the update is applied, PS4 owners can now download and install games and applications and keep them in the external HDD storage unit.
The save files themselves will still be kept on the PS4's HDD, but the extra space provided by the external HDD should at least allow players to install new games without having to think about what older games they may need to delete in order to free up the space required.
Also included in Update 4.50 are custom wallpapers that should allow owners to further personalize their consoles, as well as a revamped Quick Menu and a redesigned Notification List.
This feature-filled PS4 update is one players will want to have, and if recent rumors pan out, then it could be released in the very near future.
