PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Who Has Better Online Service?
The PS4 vs. Xbox One were pitted against one another in a video series released through IGN.com last month.
The clips examine and compare different areas with both consoles including Controller, Hardware, Games, Software, Online and Overall. In each of these videos the site takes a closer look at which system does a better job with these areas of interest and allows viewers to vote on which one they like better.
In the online comparison the site looks at which network runs more efficiently for those who love to play there. IGN uses its Xbox expert Fran Mirabella III to examine Microsoft's online experience. See it here.
"Voice chat is remarkably clear and for me is one of my most cherished advancements on the Xbox One," said Mirabella regarding the online. "It makes the Xbox 360 sound terrible by comparison, and with party chat you can even allow up to 31 people to listen in. Video chat is also cool thanks to the high quality Kinect."
Xbox One online also gives users access to content such as movies, TV shows and access to apps such as Netflix or Hulu. They can also use Twitch TV which will eventually support live streaming.
The site's PS4 expert Scott Lowe weighed in on the Sony system's online capabilities.
"PlayStation Plus is without a doubt one of the best values in the gaming industry," said Lowe. "With a paid subscription players get discounts on games including multiple free titles throughout the year. And not just stuff you'd find in a bargain bin. I'm talking about popular new releases."
Sony has also added its cross platform cross gaming party chat and messaging tools. Players will still have access to many of the big services on the console such as Netflix and Hulu, however, it does offer less options than the Xbox One.
