Oklahoma State have fulfilled many analysts predictions by being dominant through this season. With Marcus Smart and Markey Brown they have probably the best starting backcourts in the nation, and they have formed a powerhouse and foundation for the team's success this season.
The 5th ranked Cowboys team, will have a tough challenge today though, as they face off against a competent Purdue team that is also unbeaten this term.
This first round of the Old Spice Classic will take place in Orlando, Florida today and should be a fantastic game for fans and neutrals. Smart leads the Big 12 with 21.0 points per game this season, having bypassed the NBA draft to return for his sophomore season. Supporting him, Brown is tied for third with an 18.2 average.
On Monday the pair scored 25 points apiece in a 93-67 win over South Florida, putting the Cowboys on 5-0 with another easy victory.
They are now second in the country in scoring, averaging 100.2 points, as well as maintaining an average winning margin of 35.8. No one has come close to them this season, with their closest result being a 101-80 win over Memphis on Nov. 19.
Brown has said, "We've been playing great basketball so far. We're just trying to stay humble, trying to stay out of the media looking at all different sorts of things about how great this team can be. Obviously, we know how great we can be. Whether we put it together is on us."
