'Push Girls' Premiere Inspires, Breaks Stereotypes of Wheelchairs (VIDEO)

There are plenty of reality TV shows this season, but a new series on the Sundance channel is hoping to break stereotypes. "Push Girls" features a group of five women confined to wheelchairs and follows their struggles and triumphs of everyday life.

The series is the first of its kind, with a cast exclusively confined to wheelchairs. Angela Rockwood, Auti Angel, Tiphany Adams, and Mia Schaikewitz, and Chelsie Hill are the stars of the series and are determined to prove that just because they are seated, doesn't mean they can't have normal lives.

"Being 42 and in a wheelchair, most people don't think that I can have a baby," Angel explains on camera. "But I physically can. I just don't know if I'm ready to give up my career and my independence."

People are already reacting with excitement after last night's series premiere.

"I think this is so great and amazingly refreshing!" Kathryn Ortiz noted on the Sundance channel's website. "I would love to also join a cast like this… [It] is a huge step forward, and I commend the Sundance Channel."

One of the target audiences includes those who are in wheelchairs for whatever reason, and the "push girls" have seemingly won them over.

"I agree with you all. I am also a female in a wheelchair. I have been in one for three years now and this show is amazingly inspiring to me. I would sooo (sic) love to be part of this show," added Desiree Charette.

According to the Sundance channel, a Push Girl is: "a fierce, fearless woman who doesn't let life's challenges get in the way of what she wants… anyone who overcomes adversity with a never-say-die attitude and sense of humor."

From the premiere, it seems that all five ladies fit the definition and are determined not to let anything get in the way. No matter the physical situation, these women are willing to go after that which they want most in life.

"Push Girls" airs Monday nights on the Sundance channel at 10:00 p.m. EST.
