Q90 Radio partners to grand open new youth skatepark

Q90, WORQ-FM, a Christian radio station reaching 23,000 teens weekly will have more to celebrate this Friday after their 10th Year Anniversary in February. It’s ministry partner Young Community, a Christian non-profit that reaches out to teens, will see the grand opening of its Skateside teen center.

The youth hang-out initially opened in a former warehouse with donations on January 31, 2004, but now organizers are reopening the center after achieving new additions. A new, indoor skate park has been added to Skateside, located in Ashwaubenon, Wi., which the partnership between Q90 and Young Community created to give teens in a safe environment with positive music, friends, and mentors. Organizers are also working to offer classes on parent-teen relations, drugs, self-esteem, and other issues affecting teens.

"It offers a positive message, positive environment, an opportunity to make wise decisions through the classes and training we do for teens and their parents," Young Community's James Sutton said.

By offering a fun, clean place for teens to hang out, teens are attracted and relationships that give the opportunity to share Christ are developed, explains the ministry plan of Youth Community.

Skateside is the largest indoor skate park in N.E. Wisconsin and the only indoor skatepark in Green Bay, according to Young Community’s website. The facility includes a multi-use teen center to be used for Christian concerts, Bible studies, evangelistic gatherings, games, and a snack/coffee bar among other events. Even swing dancing classes are being organized.

Skateside is located at 1010 Waube Lane. The grand opening is Friday at 4 p.m.
