Quadruple Homicide Suspect Says Victim Fired First
A quadruple homicide case will go to trial next month in the state of Kansas after a grueling two-day preliminary hearing. Kyle Flack will stand trial for the murders of Andrew Stout, Steven White, Kaylie Bailey and Lana-Leigh, who were all killed by gunshot sounds.
According to court testimony, Flack shot White in the head and chest, Stout was also shot multiple times, and Kaylie Bailey was shot in the head. She was found with zip ties around her wrists and a red bandanna in her mouth and was half-naked. Authorities think that she may have been the victim of an attempted rape, but Flack is not charged with that crime.
"She had that bandanna in her mouth. She was bound. She was gagged. She was executed there," Franklin County Attorney Stephen Hunting told the court.
Bailey's daughter, Lana-Leigh, was shot in the head, but her body was found several days later in a suitcase in a creek. Hunting told the court that the little girl was shot on the same bed as her mother and was aware "something awful happened to her."
Flack reportedly told authorities that Stout was the first to shoot White before handing him the gun. The two then put a tarp over White's body and went in the home to smoke marijuana. There was no explanation for why Flack shot Stout or Bailey. However, Flack's mother believes that her son is the victim of a set-up or at the very least, had a partner in the murders.
"If he's involved, he didn't do it alone," Tammy McCoy told the Associated Press. "Kyle knows what happened and he's covering for someone. Loyalty means everything to him. Kyle expected to go to trial."
Flack will be formally arraigned on April 22 and will be charged with capital murder, first-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm. The lead prosecutor has not said whether he will seek the death penalty in the case.
