Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Specs, Release Date: Not Everything Will Be New in the Next-Gen Processor
Qualcomm is leaving one element untouched in its next-generation Snapdragon processor.
According to a new leak, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor is sticking with the same 10-nanometer Low Power Early process although this time Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will be the supplier instead of Samsung.
Of course, there will be something new to see in the chipset — in fact, there is a lot. The processor will make use of four third-gen Kryo cores based on Cortex-A75. The other four will be based on A53 cores.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor will also reportedly rely on the new Adreno 630 for its graphics processing power, but there is no information yet on what upgrades to expect from this graphics card.
With the latest trends in mobile, the new Snapdragon processor will allow tech firms to embrace it all and more. It will reportedly be the beating heart of next year's flagships with four cameras (likely two on the back and two on the front) with up to 25 megapixels.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor will also allegedly come with a new X20 modem that will boost the download speeds from its predecessor's 1 Gbps to 1.2 Gbps.
Samsung has already called dibs on the first batch of the chipset, which it will use on its next-big release — the Samsung Galaxy S9. Users can expect the processor on competing flagships at least when the second wave of units arrive.
Apart from this, it is being said that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor could also end up under the hood of what is believed to be a new Microsoft Surface device. This was hinted in a job listing spotted by WinFuture.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor is expected to be one of the, if not the biggest attractions at the manufacturer's second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit set to take place in Hawaii from Dec. 4 to Dec. 8.
