Queen Latifah Talks Being Shocked After Show Cancellation Announced
Queen Latifah has expressed shock concerning her talk show after its recent cancellation was announced.
While The Hollywood Reporter announced that The Queen Latifah Show will continue to appear on CBS stations with original episodes through March, the entertainment mogul, born Dana Owens, spoke to the publication about her feelings concerning the matter.
"As I look back on it, I'm in shock at how many people have come on the show, supported the show and all the great things. I've been able to spend other people's money to change people's lives, which is the best thing to be able to do," she told THR. "I feel really honored. And I appreciate everyone who tuned in to watch it and support it."
Latifah said she is going to focus on herself during her off time before announcing her next venture.
"I'm going to take a little time and focus on Dana. Focus on D-love for a minute and then I'll come back out swinging," she said. "That's how I do … You know me; I've been here for a while and I'm going to keep going."
Last month, Queen Latifah wrote a Facebook letter to herself, insisting God had more in store for her.
"You can also say you have been a blessing to and been blessed by amazing guests and incredible audiences for this show. We truly changed people's lives for the better," she wrote. "So … STAY POSITIVE, STAY STRONG, and most importantly, STAY OPEN … There is so much more God has in store!"
The 44-year-old singer-actress is gearing up to star in the HBO biopic of blues singer Bessie Smith. She previously spoke up about her faith in God to Good Housekeeping magazine.
"Nobody is perfect. I know that I'm not a saint, but God's love is there for me," Latifah previously told the publication last year. "I know that I need help to make it through every day, so I pray to God to help me do the best I can, to lift me up when I am tired and help me develop into the person He wants me to be … I am always surrounded by His love, and He is always there."
