Quentin Tarantino is Back With 'The Hateful Eight'

It's been a while since Quentin Tarantino did a film. His last foray was "Django Unchained" in 2012, a movie about a freed slave who sets out to rescue his wife from an evil plantation owner. It was not only a box office success, but also gave him an Academy Award for the movie's screenplay. Since then, his fans have been waiting for his next cinematic project.

The wait is over for his fans, as reports have been coming out confirming that the director is finishing up his next film "The Hateful Eight." According to a report in Cinema Blend, the movie almost did not happen.

Tarantino was caught up in a legal battle because he claimed that his screenplay for the film was leaked online. After the case was dismissed, he did a stage reading of "The Hateful Eight" and subsequently announced that he was working on the script for the film. By the summer of 2014, it was announced that the project was going to happen. Filming started in early 2015 and the director is currently working on post-production.

The story is based on the screenplay written by Tarantino. It is set in the post-Civil War era and follows the story of a bounty hunter and his bounty as they make their way through Wyoming in the dead of winter, on their way to a town called Red Rock. The two meet two other strangers along the way. As they encounter a blizzard, they are taken off course and end up in an establishment called Minnie's Haberdashery. There are also four other people inside the establishment, and they have to share the shelter for the night. Tensions mount between the eight characters and "in true Tarantino fashion, blood will be spilt."

The film has a stellar cast, starting with Kurt Russell as the bounty hunter John Ruth or "The Hangman," Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue or "The Prisoner," and Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren or "The Bounty Hunter." Other cast members include Walter Goggins as Chris "The Sheriff" Mannix, Demian Birchir as Bob "The Mexican," Tim Roth as Oswaldo "The Little Man" Mobray, Michael Madsen as Joe "The Cow Puncher" Gage and Bruce Dern as Gen. Sandford "The Confederate" Smithers.

Entertainment Weekly recently shared a first look photo of the three lead characters. The film, however, has yet to get a release date.
