Radio Host Denounces Bill Maher's 'God Is a Psychotic Mass Murderer' Remark; Says God Is Waiting for Maher to Repent
Conservative radio host Bryan Fischer says Bill Maher, who recently called God a "psychotic mass murderer" for drowning the world in the Great Flood, is only able to make his mocking statements because of God's gift of free will. And God is only allowing him to live so that he has a chance for repentance, Fischer argues.
"The decisions that Bill Maher is making right now to blaspheme against God, to ridicule God, to mock God, he only has the ability do that because God has given him the gift of free will. Bill Maher is using it for profane and blasphemous purposes. The only reason that Bill Maher, after a tirade like that, draws another single breath, is because God is merciful, God is compassionate, He is abundant in steadfast love and loving kindness," Fischer, director of Issue Analysis at the American Family Association, said on his radio program "Focal Point," posted on Monday.
"He (God) is waiting for Bill Maher to come to a place of repentance and He is continuing to extend to him His grace and His patience and His mercy."

Maher called God a "psychotic mass murder" last week on his HBO show "Real Time with Bill Maher," while talking about the biblical account of Noah's ark and the flood.
"The thing that's really disturbing about Noah isn't the silly, it's that it's immoral. It's about a psychotic mass murderer who gets away with it and his name is God. Genesis says God was so angry with Himself for screwing up when He made mankind so flawed that He sent the flood to kill everyone. Men, women, children, babies, what kind of tyrant punishes everyone just to get back at the few he's mad at?" the atheist talk show host said.
He also criticized Americans who believe the story of Noah's ark to be literally true, referencing the upcoming Darren Aronofsky film "Noah," which is set to open in theaters March 28. The film has caused much discussion and debate in the religious community.
"The movie has been condemned by both Christians and Muslims, so it must be doing something right," Maher said.
Some conservative Christians, such as evangelist and filmmaker Ray Comfort, have blasted "Noah" for what they say is an unbiblical representation of the story, while several Muslim countries have altogether banned the movie because it goes against Islamic teachings that prohibit the representation of biblical figures on screen.
Fischer noted that Maher's claims that God is a mass murderer would be correct if God was not the God revealed in the Bible.
"But remember the picture that we are given of God in Scripture – He is the potter, and we are the clay, He is the judge of the living and the dead, He is the judge of all the earth," Fischer said, explaining that the reason for the flood was the evil of men, who had nothing but evil in their hearts.
"The point was, God had nothing left to work with. God's heart was not to destroy, God's heart was to redeem, but He only found one man, and perhaps the members of his family, who had a heart to respond to Him, to work with Him, to obey Him, and that man's name was Noah."
While denouncing Maher's comments, Fischer told listeners that they should not feel superior to Maher.
"There's not one of us who can point a finger at Bill Maher and say we are superior to him. Because we are not. All of us have done things, and we know it, that deserve the judgment and the wrath of God."
