'Rainy Cocoa Series: Ame-con!!' Episode 4 Spoilers: Can Ka'u Coffee Help the Waikiki Rainy Color Prosper?

The Waikiki branch of the Rainy Color café continues to struggle to make a mark on the short-form Japanese anime series, "Rainy Cocoa Series: Ame-con!!" Will the valuable advice from their first regular customer be of any help to improve their future sales?

The Shiba Inu, Nana, has arrived in Hawaii to be the Waikiki Rainy Color's official shop dog. And just as Amami has previously described to Nozomu, the dog has very tsundere tendencies. She bit Nozomu's hand at first sight but readily approved of the name Nozomu has given her.

Additionally, Nana happens to have the special talent of identifying delicious coffee beans by merely smelling them and could even rank them from the best to the worst tasting brand.

But neither the dog's presence nor her special talent seems to have helped the shop much when it comes to attracting more customers. There was only one who kept coming back and rating the café's original coffee on a scale of 100, thus gradually challenging Nozomu to read up on coffee roasting and improve his blend.

And by the time Nozomu's coffee reached a rating of 50 out of 100, the customer who introduced himself as Frederick Ando advised the shop owner to come up with a new product, and even suggested that Nozomu should try to look up the Hawaiian-grown bean known as Ka'u Coffee.

The Ka'u region in Hawaii is rather young when it comes to coffee growing, but their beans have already been recognized as one of the finest ones. It became even more popular when the Starbucks Reserve® Hawaii Ka'u won the Coffee of the Year Award from the Specialty Coffee Association of America in 2011.

The coffee is said to have flavor notes of fresh coconut made even more savory by its caramel sweetness and hints of citrus and nuts.

Such a combination of tastes displays flavors that are specific to its locale. But will Nozomu be able to bring a new twist to it to promote both Rainy Cocoa's Japanese origin and the Hawaiian tradition?

"Rainy Cocoa Series Ame-con!!" airs on Wednesdays at 10:25 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and on Saturdays at 10:25 p.m JST on Sun TV. Episodes will also be simulcast in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
