Rapper DMX Mops Floor of Waffle House: Humbling Himself Before God? (VIDEO)
Multiplatinum rapper DMX was caught mopping a Waffle House in SC. Many have suggested that the Hip Hop great is addicted to cleaning but is his behavior a demonstration of James 4:10?
James 4:10 speaks to the merits of humility by teaching: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
An interview with Earl Simmons, better known as DMX in 2010, the rapper and actor of films such as “Belly”, Romeo Must Die”, “Exit Wounds”, and “Cradle 2 The Grave”, told Fox 5’s “Good Day Atlanta” that, “God has to allow you to fall before picking you up,” he then added, “He can’t pick you up if you’re standing up already.”
The New York rapper, who is one of the best selling Hip Hop artist of all times, has had a number of run-ins with the law, ranging from drug possession to violation of his probation; he has been incarcerated on multiple occasions.
Still, over the past year, Simmons has been expressing a desire to move closer to God. In an interview with TMZ in October of this year, the rapper said: "I am on a spiritual road to do right in my life. I am leaving out all negativity and going to stay on the right road to positive."
Simmons’ pastor confirmed the new direction of the rapper: “When [DMX] first came to my church he looked broken, sad, and full of struggle. Now you see a dramatic change. You see that the drugs and alcohol aren’t in his life."
As TMZ reported, last week the award winning Hip Hop star was seen mopping the floor of a Waffle House in South Carolina.
TMZ wrote, “DMX sentenced himself to hard labor yesterday, relieving a lowly Waffle House employee from mop duty ... and performing the chore himself!”
The artist who has proclaimed that he now gives God all the glory in his life, appears now to be observing the principle of James 4:10.
