Rapper T.I. in New Reality Show, Attempts to Rebuild Life
VH1 is giving rapper T.I. his own reality show, "T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle," starting Dec. 5 at 9 p.m.
The series will start viewers off just as T.I. leaves for his one-year prison sentence and is reunited with his wife Tameka “Tiny” and his children.
The show will focus on rebuilding the man who went to jail as he tries to become a "father, husband, son, musician, apparel magnate, businessman, actor, and best selling author (Power & Beauty)," said VH1 in a press release.
"Tameka and I have a strong, loving family," said T.I. "In this family documentary, you will see the challenges of raising children while balancing a career. It's like a lot of families, only our home is in the spotlight."
The show will also focus on Tameka, and how she kept the family together while T.I. was behind bars. She is not a stranger to the celebrity lifestyle having been in pop group Xscape.
In the show, Tameka manages an up and coming pop group called OMG GIRLZ.
The 31-year-old rapper's real name is Clifford Harris. He got his start in 2001 with his first album I'm Serious.
T.I.'s next two albums, Trap Muzik and Urban Legend were very successful, but it was not until 2006 with King that T.I. became a hip-hop force to be reckoned. The album sold 522,000 albums in its first week.
The rapper's biggest album was Papertrail in 2008, selling 568,000 copies and spawning huge hits, such as "No Matter What," "Whatever You Like," "Swagger Like Us," "Live Your Life," and "Dead and Gone."
T.I. was sentenced to an undefined stint in prison, one year of house arrest, and 1,500 hours of community service due to gun possession charges from 2007 when he was arrested before the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
T.I. released another album after the arrest, but he was arrested again on drug charges last year and was sent back to jail for 11 months for breaking his parole.
T.I. was released from prison, and is working on a new album for release in 2012 called, Trap Muzik Vol 2: Trouble Man.
