Raven-Symone of 'The Cosby Show' Confirms 'Sister Act' on Broadway
Raven-Symone has confirmed that she will play the lead role in Broadway's hit musical "Sister Act."
Portraying a nightclub-singer-turned-nun, the 26-year-old will return to the Broadway stage for the first time in over 20 years.
While Symone appeared in "The Boys Choir of Harlem" on Broadway at age five, she thinks of "Sister Act" as her Broadway debut.

"I did it at age 5 but I don't remember that, obviously," explained the actress. "So I want to do it for real - a big, crowd-pleasing show as well as working with these great people."
Symone is best known for her role as Olivia on the television sitcom "The Cosby Show," but also starred in the show "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" and Disney's "That's So Raven," and had a brief musical career.
In preparation for role in "Sister Act," the actress and singer said she is in rehearsal from "sun-up to sun-down" in order to "make sure I have everything down" during her performance.
The starlet is thrilled to join the cast of "Sister Act," and says she fell in love with the musical as soon as she saw it.
"I was definitely one of the audience members dancing in the aisles," said Symone according to The Associated Press.
She continued, "I think it's a wonderfully scored and directed and written musical. I'm very excited to be part of this."
Earlier this year Symone indicated plans to move to New York City but did not confirm her new role while speaking to HollywoodLife.
"I actually had a couple of positive goals rather than resolutions," explained Symone. "I am focusing on my acting craft, and hopefully I'll be moving to NYC soon."
This week has confirmed that Symone has replaced Tony Award-nominated Patina Miller for the role of Deloris Van Cartier in "Sister Act." The film's original Deloris, Whoopi Goldberg, is producing the musical.
"Sister Act" will hit Broadway Theatre March 27.
