Ray-J Hospitalized for Exhaustion After Alleged Encounter With Pat Houston
Ray-J Norwood, singer and reality television star who was also close with Whitney Houston before her untimely death in February, was recently rushed to the hospital after an alleged altercation with the late singer's sister-in-law, Pat Houston.
The issues with Ray-J reportedly began when rumors surfaced that Pat Houston attempted to have him removed from the area where the Houston family was seated at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. One day later, reports surfaced that the singer was being treated in a Las Vegas hospital.
The alleged altercation between Houston and Ray-J coupled with exhaustion after a 32-hour round-trip flight to China before the awards show reportedly contributed to the singer's hospitalization, according to TMZ. Still, Houston said she did not force the singer, who was rumored to be dating her sister-in-law, out of his seat.
"I'm a woman of order and dignity, I would have not had anything to do with that," Houston told Hip Hollywood recently.
Ray-J's publicist released a statement about his well-being in a Global Grind report, citing exhaustion and jet lag as a reason for his hospital visit.
"Ray J has been in a Las Vegas area hospital since the early morning of Monday, May 21, and will remain there for treatment for exhaustion and jet lag. Ray J was in Las Vegas hosting a launch party for the product he is endorsing, Prince Reigns Hair Serum, and to attend the Billboard Music Awards," the statement reads. "Ray J had just returned to the U.S. from a quick 32-hour round trip from China where he performed a concert and had meetings regarding a new business. Upon landing, he immediately drove four hours to Las Vegas for the two events."
Many took to Twitter to wish the singer well, some under the impression that Houston might have been involved.
"Let's keep Ray-J in our prayers, he was rushed to the hospital after a fight with Whitney's family," one person tweeted.
Music mogul Russell Simmons also sent Ray-J well-wishes, writing on Tuesday, "Prayers for Ray-J."
