The R&B singer, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., debuted his controversial single April 8 and contrary to reports, he maintains that the song was not written about Kardashian. In 2007 an adult film featuring Ray J, 32, and Kardashian, 32, was made public, and critics believe the song references the now-infamous tape because of the lewd lyrics.

"She might move on to rappers and ball players / But we all know I hit it first," Ray J sings.

A woman resembling Kardashian is seen intimately interacting with Ray J throughout the music video. Ray J however, insisted that the song has nothing to do with his previous relationship with the reality star.

"It's just a record, it's putting a hundred on fifty. It's about the concept, you know what I'm saying. It's a great beat!" Ray J told New York radio station Hot 97.

"They just gotta keep it on the surface. I'm not trying to create a war, it's all love; we're doing music," he added.

Kardashian's camp is not convinced that Ray J's song is not about the reality TV star and her best friend Jonathan Cheban recently lashed out at the popular singer for making the song.

"When I saw that idiot Ray J make a song about her, you know I held myself back from twittering that Ray J is a real retard," Cheban vented to Us magazine at the Blacks annual gala in Miami on April 13.

"But you know, I can't deal with a thousand people twittering back and forth so I let it go. I mean, who does that?! You're a loser and you'll always be a loser," he sniped.

Still, Ray J claims that his critics are simply reading too much into it the song. He maintains that it is not a "diss" to Kardashian.

"I think people are digging into it way too deep," Ray J said. "Like, it's a song, we just having fun. We not on that situation … It's not a diss."
