Ray-J Laughs at Kim Kardashian for Trying to Move on From Past

Kim Kardashian is ready to move on from her past but it seems that the ex-boyfriend who helped her rise to fame with an infamous tape showcasing promiscuity isn't so quick to let that happen.

Kardashian, 31-year-old star of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," tweeted about overcoming the past.

"Keep your life in a positive perspective," Kardashian tweeted to over 15 million fans. "We are not defined by our pasts."

Ray-J Norwood, the reality television star's ex-boyfriend who appeared in the X-rated video that catapulted her career, re-tweeted Kardashian's message and responded with an "lol" – laughing out loud.

Many fans of the pair reacted to Ray-J finding Kardashian's tweet comical.

Norwood's re-tweet caused him to trend on Twitter, and sparked a debate about whether he was right or wrong for responding to the reality television star.

"That tweet was the best thing that Ray J has done since 'one wish,'" one fan said of the R&B singer's 2005 hit single.

However, others weren't so supportive and believed that the R&B singer was just being negative toward Kardashian since she moved on with rapper Kanye West.

"Ray J is hating on Kim K. He's just mad that's not his any more and she blew up," another person tweeted. "I can't even not like that girl any more."

Still, some could not understand the backlash that Norwood was receiving.

"Why's everyone so mad at Ray J though," another person questioned. "I mean really, how many of y'all actually knew who Kim was before that tape?"

Although Norwood dated Kardashian in 2003 and their home video was released in 2007, the singer has spoken about his past with his ex-girlfriend multiple times in 2012.

Last February, Norwood inspired a book written by Maxwell Billieon called Death of the Cheating Man: What Every Woman Must Know About Men Who Stray, which details some of the mistakes Ray J and Kardashian allegedly made during their relationship. The literary work used Norwood Jr. as a case study to speak about some of his issues with monogamy.

However, Kardashian's name was mentioned in the book when Norwood alleged that she left her first husband for him.

"We'd known each other for a while before we dated and there was a mutual attraction, but she was married. She let me know she wanted to get with me," Ray J says in the book. "She left her husband for me...and things between us got intense really fast. After that, I felt obligated to be with her."

However, a source close to Kardashian did not admit to anything in Ray J's book being factual.

"There's so much that has gone wrong for her this year – he's just another person trying to humiliate her," the source told The Daily Mail earlier this year. "Kim actually feels bad for him for making a reference to a relationship that ended many, many years ago in order to sell books. She never cheated on him, but it looks like he's making this up to make himself feel more at peace for all the cheating he did."

While Kardashian has yet to respond to Norwood's latest opinions of her, she did speak about being a mature individual to her Twitter followers.

"You wouldn't be who you are today, you wouldn't have the depth, maturity and the insight were it not for those challenges that forced you to grow," she tweeted.
