Razer Smartphone Specs News: 'Biggest Unveiling' Next Month Is Most Likely About a Smartphone
Gaming computer hardware company Razer has recently teased their "biggest unveiling" event slated for next month, and all clues point to a smartphone launch.
Recently, Razer put up a dedicated webpage with very few details written on it. The page only mentioned: "Watch for our biggest unveiling." However, the background photo said a lot more.
On the webpage's background is a guy obviously holding a mobile device -- more particularly, a smartphone. Razer teased that the said event would happen on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Speculations on an upcoming Razer smartphone were supported by a recently spotted benchmark testing result on GFXBench for a device running an Android 7.1.1 operating system that was also dubbed as an "Android Razer Edition."
For a gaming hardware company, one would expect a smartphone with hefty technical specifications. And that is just what the GFXBench details suggest.
The rumored Razer smartphone will have a 5.7-inch screen with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution. The GFXBench information also said the device will be powered by an octa-core processing chip with 2.4-gigahertz clock speed from Qualcomm -- these specifications definitely point to a Snapdragon 835. Added to that, it will come with an internal storage space of 64 GB.
The above-mentioned technical specifications are very similar to those found in premium smartphones from other manufacturers.
However, Razer raises the bar with an 8 GB random access memory, which is something not very common even in flagship devices. This year, most of the released premium smartphones sport 4 GB RAM.
As for the Razer smartphone's camera, the information sheet on GFXBench also hinted at a 12-megapixel rear camera that is also capable of capturing 4K videos. Meanwhile, it will also have an ample front camera with 8 MP resolution.
News about Razer's first smartphone product surfaced earlier this year, and many are expecting the company to still target the "hardcore gamers." Another report also expects to see Razer's signature look on the mobile device through customizable LED lights.
