Real Housewives' Phaedra Parks Accused of Running Car Theft Ring

Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks has hired two heavyweight defense lawyers following claims that she and her husband, Apollo Nida, ran an Atlanta based car theft ring.

Parks, who is a Managing Partner of Atlanta based law firm, The Parks Group, P.C., has teamed up with renowned defense attorneys B.J. Bernstein and Lin Wood just one day after her former friend, Angela Stanton made the explosive accusations.

Stanton, author of the upcoming memoir "Lies of a Real House Wife: Tell The Truth and Shame The Devil," claims that she along with Parks, Nida and Nida's brother Eric, were all involved in a fraudulent car theft ring which was run by 40-year-old Parks.

The friendship allegedly began when Parks, an entertainment lawyer, met Stanton through one of her former clients. Eventually after being introduced to Nida and Eric, all four were involved in what Stanton described as a "federal racketeering scheme," according to Vibe Magazine.

"Stealing Porches, Hummers, Cadillacs, Corvettes, any hot whip at that time you name it we had it. We would basically go to the car lot and write down the VIN numbers of the vehicles that we felt as if we wanted to keep or would make a good sale," Stanton told Vibe.

"Once we recorded the numbers down off of the VIN we would take it back to Phaedra and Eric and once they had it they would make a fake identification card and registration card to match the vehicle. The next day you could take that id and registration card and go to another car dealership and tell them that this is your vehicle and they'll cut you a key, for a fee of $185. Once we had the key, we would then go back to the car dealerships after the dealerships closed and drive off with whatever car we picked earlier," she explained.

Eventually federal law enforcement caught on to the criminal activity and Stanton, Nida and Eric were all arrested and sentenced to prison.

It is still unclear why Parks, a mother of one, was never arrested if she was in fact the ring leader but some critics suspect that a dispute with Parks may have prompted Stanton to speak out publicly about Parks' involvement in the ring.

"The agreement was always that she would always represent all of us if we ever got in any trouble, and that's what I expected. I expected her to represent me, I expected her to look out for my children if something was to happen. I expected her to do everything she said she was gonna do because I did everything that I said I was gonna do. I never told, I ended up getting 5 years in the state!" Stanton said.
