Real Madrid Transfer News 2015: Madrid Get Break in Trying to Sign De Gea
For Real Madrid, summer has been full of rumors and speculation that should already be the norm for one of the biggest clubs in football.
However, one of the biggest links with the team has been with English Premier League club Manchester United, and their continuing saga on Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea. Even before the summer began, there were talks on a possible move for De Gea from Old Trafford to join Madrid at the Bernabeu.
Many reasons have been cited such as De Gea's family, or simply his love for the Spanish club – and there have been no shortage of talks linking the two together.
Manchester coach Louis Van Gaal has always been firm with his belief that De Gea will stay with the team for at least a year as he still has one year left in his contract but now he might finally concede that De Gea is a lost cause and may be set to move before the transfer window closes.
According to different reports, it is said that Van Gaal has had enough with the hard negotiations with the Spaniard and he wanted to re-open talks with their Spanish rivals.
According to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, Van Gaal spoke about the matter with De Gea after their International Champions Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain, where they lost 2-0.
"We have a situation that is not favourable for David De Gea, neither for us and neither for the club, that maybe, he wants to go," Van Gaal said.
There have been reports that if this current deal fails, then Madrid have agreed with De Gea to move on a free transfer once his contract with Manchester United expires, and with that in mind, it is now likely that United will deal De Gea and at least get some money in return – rather than lose their number one goalkeeper for nothing at all.
