In recent weeks Real have played against Bournemouth, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain, and in their most recent game against PSG last week they looked to be reaching near the kind of form they would want to be hitting the La Liga season with when things get underway in a few weeks time.

Players are still arriving back into the Real squad, from the Confederations Cup and other commitments, but their squad is starting to regain its regular look, and that could be bad news for the American side today.

La Galaxy will need to show up today – their form has been spotty of late, and they cannot afford to have an off day today or they could end up being embarrassed by some of the world's best players.

One advantage the Galaxy have is that they are mid-way through their season, where as Real are still gearing up for their regular season and are still in preseason preparations. The difference in gear the two teams will be in could prove significant, although with the class of players at Real's disposal that advantage could be minimized.

The temperature could be hot in today's game, and that will drain the energy from the Real players' legs as the game wears on, as they are still reaching full match fitness. The LA Galaxy players meanwhile should be in top shape, being in their mid-season. That again could prove vital if the Galaxy are still in with a shout going into the last third of the game.
