Since the age of 16, Rebecca St. James has made her way across the globe sharing her strong testimony of faith with others through different areas of missions. As one of today’s most respected and loved international Christian music artist, Rebecca leaves a bold and influential mark on Christians with her stirring lyrics, transforming writings, dedication to world missions, and image of sincerity. Many amazing works have been achieved over the past 10 years of this 26-year old’s life, beginning at her native land Sydney, Australia. Unashamed of her faith in God, Rebecca carries the scripture in heart wherever she goes, and reveals that heart before the world in her acceptance speech of her Grammy award.

As missionary and musician, Rebecca St. James’s life and career reflects the ongoing growth and maturity of her faith. Three previous projects, “Rebecca St. James” from 1994, (God) from 1996, and “Pray” from 1998 opened wider doors. The song “Yes, I Believe in God” in 1999 touched the heart of many after the tragedy of the Columbine High School. And by 2000, the uniquely assembled album “Transform” brought forth her title as top Christian artist of the year.

For the youth, Rebecca is a great role model. The beautifully written song “Wait For Me,” addressed Rebecca’s commendable commitment to abstinence before marriage. She was named the “most influential woman in Christian music” on Crosswalk.com. Also, in 2002, “Worship God” was released and CCM and Campus Life magazines and listeners of K-Love and Air1 radio networks named her Best Female Artist. Also honored with the title of “Best Female Artist of 2003” and “Best Female Artist of 2004,” St. James’ fan-base only grows as people are able to relate to her songs and her desire for absolute Truth.
The project “Wait for Me: The Best from Rebecca St. James” encapsulates the powerfully innovative 26-year old artist. The power of passionate worship can be felt in her recent release, “Live Worship.” Wanting to experience a new dimension of worship, Rebecca shares in an interview on www.rsjames.com, “The thing we've [Rebecca and producers] talked about is that over the last ten years I've built up a very strong relationship with my audience and there's a trust level there. They know that I'm focused on ministry…they know that I've attempted to stay consistently strong in my walk with God. I think that that kind of trust level can grant me a creative license to try new things and to musically kind of experiment because my audience trusts that the ministry and the heart is going to stay the same. It gives me a freeing feeling of liberty to be somewhat adventurous musically!” And so her spirit plans to venture out to more creative realms to bring forth variety into her career. On April 1st, it was announced that Rebecca St. James has joined the CCM super-group that consists of fine Christian artists Kevin Max, Jennifer Knapp, Jason Perry, and Derek Webb. This band is expected to make great history in Christian music and the lives of many.
Having played a central character in the Rock Opera, “Hero!,” Rebecca’s hidden talent in acting has been revealed. Rebecca honestly says, “In the future, if God leads me that way, I would really love to do more acting-maybe the combination of acting and singing again in a musical.”
And referring to the album, “Live Worship,” Rebecca shares, “I think there's something very powerful about a listener being able to hear an audience sing together. The community and unity that represents provides a beautiful connection with the listener-similar to the feeling of when we're at church and worshiping corporately-you have a sense of brother and sisterhood from the experience. There's something special that happens through live worship projects-we're literally able to join hands with other Christians around the world in the experience. I hope this particular album will touch people in that kind of unique 'God' way."
"Worship is our love response to God's love for us. It's a constant part of my life, and what I deeply hope I can transmit to others through my music." This is what Rebecca holds true in her day by day.
Clearly, even in the midst of glamour and fame, Rebecca remains humble and simply proclaims the gospel of Truth.
