Rebecca St. James Releases First New Studio Project in Four Years
Containing 12 new tracks, 11 penned by St. James herself, 'If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something' also marks the artists return to her rock roots.
Grammy and Dove Award winning artist Rebecca St. James newest studio album If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something released yesterday to retail stores everywhere.
The artists first new studio project in four years, If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something is St. James most revealing album to date and was inspired by a month-long retreat Rebecca attended in 2004 in LAbri in the Swiss Alps.
My month there was so inspiring personally, spiritually, and creatively, St. James said in a statement released by EMI CMG. God did an amazing amount of heart make-over on me while I was at LAbri. I think theres a feeling and an undertone of depth and vulnerability on this new album that I think largely came from this experience.
Part of St. James heart make-over includes a new desire in the artist for honesty - with her fans, herself, and with God.
For a long time I thought Ive got to buck up and be strong. Ive got to put on a brave face and get through this near burn-out or that discouraging time in my life, said St. James. God has really seriously changed my thinking on this. When you take off the mask, you relate at a base level to everyone else who has been through the pain and everyone has. Honesty promotes intimacy and promotes us together relying on God. True honesty is beautiful.

I am very much of a Rock Chick, St. James told BREATHEcast.com. Ive been making worship albums for my last few albums, and I think that kind of took my music soft at certain points. I love worship music, and there are about two worship songs in this new album. But I also love doing straight-up songs that are just about the Christian life.
If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something is available for a limited time in a Special Edition DVD packaging that includes two bonus acoustic tracks, concert footage, a photo galley, and a vellum overlay cover with deluxe photo booklet and song by song content.
St. James will launch a tour with BarlowGirl in February to promote her new album, with details forthcoming.
