Rebecca St. James Talks About Marriage and Relationships on '700 Club'
On Friday night, Grammy award winning Christian singer and bestselling author Rebecca St. James, spoke about the release of her 11th book What Is He Thinking? and made a live appearance to discuss it on CBN's "700 Club," and give advice on relationships.
To get into the "male" mind, St. James conducted 16 interviews with guys both single and married so she could create an open dialogue of honest "guy talk."
St. James talks about making the right decisions while dating, staying pure, and having a great relationship with God.
"The decisions that we make when we are single are building for the future for our marriages, and so if we are living a pure life...then that faithfulness that your practicing before marriage will then follow into marriage," she says on the "700 Club." "If you’re building a relationship with God when you are single that's strong and healthy that will continue in your marriage and enhance the marriage."
The book is currently in stores nationwide and it discusses topics such as dating, love, and marriage.
“I have to wonder if that is why so many single women I know feel the urgency to get married. That can create lots of undue pressure on themselves, as well as the guys in their lives,” writes St. James in the book.
St. James says Christian men are looking for Christian women, "They want to see a girl who's living for God like they are."
Besides communication, St. James says actually serving your partner is a key to a happy relationship. She gave the example of washing each other’s feet like Jesus did with his disciples, which is what her and her husband did at their wedding.
The book's main goal is to encourage single people, with St. James stating, “In the heart of all of us, I believe that there’s a longing for adventure. It’s not just guys that love to live a new story and go on a journey. That’s what dating can be, girls . . . an exciting adventure.”
“Yes, it is scary at times and tough to navigate-but it is worth it! And God is shaping us in the process.”
She says learning to believe God had the one special person for her is what prepared her for a relationship saying, "Trust His heart even when it heart."
St. James, originally from Australia, has released nine albums since 1991, and has been performing since she was 10.
What Is He thinking? will be St. James' 11 book.
St. James has three GMA Dove Awards and one Grammy for "Best Rock Gospel Album."
St. James recently was married on April 23 at the age of 33 to husband Jacob Fink.
