'Red Dead Redemption 2' News: Developer Teases Big Announcement for This Week

Rockstar Games is planning something big for its upcoming western action-adventure video game, "Red Dead Redemption 2."

According to GameSpot, the game developer has teased about a rather major event for its much-awaited sandbox that is set for release in the second quarter of next year. Rockstar recently tweeted an image that contained a date and time - Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. EDT. The background was reportedly the blood red associated with the look marketed for "Red Dead Redemption 2." While the teaser did not specify anything, speculations are rife that Rockstar will be releasing new details about the game, more specifically, a new trailer.

PC Gamer posits that the schedule could also be an announcement that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is coming to the PC. It was previously revealed that the game will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Spring 2018. With regard to the PC version, Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, declined to confirm anything and stated that they would let their labels personally do the reveal, if there would be any. Take-Two president Karl Slatoff, however, acknowledged the potential of the PC market. For instance, Grand Theft Auto was also initially released exclusively for consoles but was later launched on PC.

"It really depends on the title. Some titles are actually heavily weighted to PC, for example, Civilization and XCOM, [but] some titles are less weighted to PC," Slatoff explained during an earnings call. "The great news is that the PC market is vibrant for us. It's a great market. It's a big market. It's a core market.

"These are consumers who are highly engaged. It's a predominantly digital market, which also removes friction in terms of ongoing engagement with the consumer. So for us, the PC market as a company is very important, very exciting, and something we focus on."

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be out in 2018.
