'Red Dead Redemption 2' News, Release Date: New Trailer Reveals Prequel Story, Characters

Rockstar Games recently dropped the second official trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2," giving fans a more in-depth look at the characters and story of the game.

The trailer opens with a beautiful landscape, as a man and his horse put out a campfire at sunrise. The man is revealed to be Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist, who is described to be an outlaw. Morgan is part of the Van der Linde gang, and the story follows them as they "rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive."

Morgan then wakes up a man and demands to get the money. It is unclear who this person is and how he relates to Morgan, though he says that the protagonist's name has appeared on their ledger.

In town, Morgan rides his horse, and he is told that he is a wanted man. He threatens a young man whose father has just died and whose mother is still in mourning. And while some are speculating that this is none other than young John, IGN disproved this theory by pointing out that John's mother died while in labor.

It is revealed that Morgan really is a wanted man, with "lawmen in three different states" hunting him and the gang down. "They chased us from the west. They chased us over the mountains," he says.

The trailer features a lot of action, fighting and even hunting animals. A fierce woman is also introduced at some point, though her identity and connection to Morgan are unknown.

Fans in the comments section have praised the trailer and are excited to get their hands on the game. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games moved the prequel's release to spring 2018. It was initially scheduled to come out this year.

As previously reported, the game's delay is rumored to be due to a cross-play feature that is being integrated into "Red Dead Redemption 2." Rockstar Games has reportedly been in talks with Sony and Microsoft to develop a cross-platform multiplayer for the game though it remains to be seen if there is any truth to this.
