'Red Dead Redemption' Game News: Sequel to Be Announced in June?

Rumors claiming that a sequel for the popular "Red Dead Redemption" game is underway are becoming louder with the latest speculations that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will finally be unveiled in the upcoming E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) happening from June 14-16 this year.

The rumor has been bolstered by a LinkedIn profile of a former Rockstar Games Senior 3D Artist who departed from the company last year. The said former employee allegedly listed "Grand Theft Auto V" "Midnight Club: Los Angeles" and "Red Dead Redemption 2" in his credentials. However, latest reports claimed that the rumored upcoming game will no longer carry "2" in its title.

Meanwhile a separate report said that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be out in the market by 2017 once it is unveiled in June. An anonymous source allegedly sent an email to Fraghero and claimed that the game will be officially branded as "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West." Apart from divulging the release date and the title of the game, the source also said that the game will undergo a high definition remake meant for next-generation consoles and will be released at the latter part of the year.

These rumors about "Red Dead Redemption" having a sequel may not be a far cry from reality as Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, confirmed that the company has now full control of the game as its franchise is already listed permanently in the company.

"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others," Zelnick said.

While some statements supporting the rumors of "Red Dead Redemption" are sensible, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt for now. After all, it's only a matter of months before the E3 commences. If "Red Dead Redemption 2" is unveiled there when the time comes, well and good for its fans.
