'Reign' Season 3 Plot News: Francis' Tragic Fate

An upcoming episode of the hit series "Reign" season 3 is expected to see the death of a major character.

The previous episode of "Reign" season 3 showed Mary dealing with the news that Francis is dying. This will result to seeing Charles as the future King of France. With that, the upcoming episode is supposed to continue this tragic story line.

The executive producer of "Reign," Laurie McCarthy, was able to share details on Francis' situation. She had revealed before that King Francis will be seeing the end of his time in the season to come.

Her spoiler had left fans shocked and saddened for the fate of King Francis. McCarthy explained why she felt it necessary to reveal Francis' upcoming death. She explained that she wanted to give viewers the time to process the idea of Francis' death. She said, "I wanted people to get used to it — there was no way around it in the storytelling. We've done shocking deaths before and that's not the tone of this story."

She also elaborated on how the season will take place to prepare his death. The season is expected to explore how Francis and Mary will deal with the tragedy. McCarthy said, "I wanted it to be an emotional journey that we all went on and that we could all feel the highs and lows of, and I wanted it to be a love story. I didn't want it to be something that shocked the fans or really anybody. I needed to process it too."

Meanwhile, the synopsis of the second episode for the season was also revealed by The CW. It revealed that the episode will be titled "Bethrothed."

It was said that Queen Elizabeth I will be dealing with some political issues concerning Catherine. Mary will also be presented with her own set of problems regarding Scotland's situation.
